Alhambra Tickets: How They Work, Opening Hours and Rules
Everything you need to plan your visit: how Alhambra tickets work, opening times by season and the rules for getting in.
Booking a guided tour with us? Then you don't need to buy separate tickets: our guided tour and day trips include the Alhambra ticket, the official guide and headsets.
How Alhambra tickets work
- Limited and nominal. Only a limited number of tickets is sold each day and each one carries the visitor's name. You must show the original ID or passport that matches the ticket.
- Timed entry to the Nasrid Palaces. Your ticket shows a time slot for the Nasrid Palaces. You can only enter within that slot; if you miss it you lose that part of the visit with no refund.
- Valid only on the day. A complete visit takes at least three hours, so arrive early.
- Types of visit. Day visit, gardens visit and night visit.
- Discounts. Children under 12 enter free (they still need a ticket); EU citizens over 65 and pensioners get a reduced price; EU schools can request free or reduced tickets. Check current conditions on the official website.
- Groups. Following UNESCO recommendations, groups are limited to 30 people plus an accredited guide.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Alhambra ticket include a guide?
No. The standard ticket only gives you entry. To have a guide you need to book a guided visit – our tours include both ticket and official guide.
How far in advance can I buy Alhambra tickets?
Tickets go on sale about three months before the visit and the daily number is limited, so book as early as you can, especially for spring, summer and weekends.
What happens if I miss my Nasrid Palaces time?
You can only enter the Nasrid Palaces within the time printed on your ticket. If you miss it, you lose access to that area and the ticket is not refunded.
Do children need a ticket?
Yes. Every visitor needs a ticket with a barcode, including those who enter free, such as children under 12.
Is this the official Alhambra website?
No. We are a Granada tour operator. Individual tickets without a guide are sold through the Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife's official channels.
