The route
We drive past towns mentioned in Tales of the Alhambra – Alcalá de Guadaíra, Arahal, Osuna and Santa Fe – through olive groves, wheat fields and the mountains where Irving imagined bandits and smugglers.
In Granada we visit the Alhambra: the Alcazaba, the military fortress; the Nasrid Palaces, home of the sultans, with the Court of the Lions; the Medina and the Palace of Charles V; and finally the Generalife, the sultans' summer residence, with its gardens.
